The Saltmarsh Story

Owner, Ernie Saltmarsh grew up visiting the island frequently and fell in love with the area and decided to raise his family on the island. His background is in real-estate and he knew one day he would love to own a piece of the beautiful history. His first purchase was The Florida House Inn and in 2009, spent an entire year restoring her back to life. His daughter, Emily started running The Inn at the age of 20, we often joke she must have been the youngest Innkeeper, managing the oldest hotel in the state of Florida!

Mr. Saltmarsh since then has lovingly restored several other heirloom properties on the island including The Green Turtle Tavern, directly next door to the Inn, The Down Under, Beech Street Grill, The Ocean Club of Amelia, Cedar River, The Lesesne House and most recently Atlantic Seafood. The Saltmarsh's passion for the island, preserving the rich history and creating an experience for tourists and locals alike runs deep. We are very proud to still be a family run company, with an amazing, dedicated staff that we are so fortunate to have!
